Fire! - Craft

Since we've been going through our Feelings Lapbook and both "Feelings" and "Face" start with the letter F (Thanks Dude for pointing this out to Mama!), I decided to go ahead and call this Letter Ff week. This allowed me to make some of the fun activities I had in the back of my mind a little more relevant ;)

So yesterday we did this fun and simple Fire craft.

Here's what you'll need:

Yellow, Red, & Orange paper (tissue paper, construction paper, crepe paper, colored or painted paper,  just whatever you can come up with)

Paper to serve as the background (We only had white, but I think blue or black would look great.)

Glue

Some small sticks (Dude helped me collect these.)

   

Start by having your child tear the colored paper into small pieces. Don't forget the overly dramatic faces! Dude needed a little refresher course on tearing. This is actually also a good activity for working those little hand muscles.

Next let your child glue the colored paper pieces onto the paper. Encourage them to overlap the pieces to make a "bright fire."

Being generous with the glue (Dude didn't need any instructions on that!) glue some of the small sticks to the base of the fire to make your "firewood." (I added some additional sticks to Dude's puddles o' glue.)

All Done! You'll probably need to wait at least 24 hours for it to dry.
